A Couple of Colorado Kids at the Ocean!

A couple of weeks ago our kiddos got to see the ocean for the first time!  We took a long weekend and went to visit family in San Diego.  Even though there wasn't much sun, Molly and Mason both thought the beach was awesome!  Here is their very first time checking out the waves.

Molly was ready to get in!

Mason, meanwhile, wasn't so sure!  The water was absolutely freezing!

While Molly ran into the water, Mason headed back up the sand to play on the beach.

While Molly was out battling the waves, Mason decided to dig with Grammy!

Every so often Mason would run back up to the water just to keep an eye on what Molly was up to.

It didn't take long for him to run back up to the beach.

Dad showed Molly how to catch sand crabs!

At first she was a little hesitant to touch them, but it didn't take long and she wanted to keep it forever.  Mason thought it was pretty funny to touch too!

Back in the water!

Grammy even decided to get her feet wet!

After realizing that the water was rather chilly, Molly and Dad came back up the beach to make a few sand castles.

After digging a hole all the way to China, we discovered the best way to babysit a kid at the beach!

He stayed in there for a while!

If you leave a kid in a hole at the beach long enough, the lifeguards come over to say hi!

Grammy finally let Mason out of the hole!

After a day at the beach we decided to check out Sea World with Grammy and Grandpa Don.

It was awesome!

Mason started the day out all smiles!

Both kids loved the dolphin tank.

Molly even got to touch a couple of dolphins!

Out of nowhere, Coco the dolphin sway our way and SPLASH!  We were soaking wet!  Molly finally decided that it was one silly dolphin (and now has a pink stuffed Coco dolphin on her bed at home), but Mason was, well, not too pleased to be suddenly soaked.

Everyone getting ready for the big show.

Mason was starting to get a little tired.

Molly, meanwhile, was fueling up on a little cotton candy.  She had never had it before and on our way to the park she said: "Mommy, I had a dream last night about pink cotton candy.  Could I pretty please have some today?"  Who could say no to that?  That gal knows how to work the system.

After watching the whales, we checked out the starfish.

Then it was on to the ray tank.

We purchased a couple trays of fish and Molly got busy feeding them lunch.

Just after our lunch, we put Mason back in the stroller and he was out in a matter of minutes.

Molly was on to the shark tank.

Mason missed out on the sharks, but we still got a picture.

Captain Molly!

We saw turtles.

Here is Molly with Grandpa Don in front of the arctic exhibit.

Then we headed to the Sesame Street kiddo rides.  I decided to miss out on the Spinning Star, but Dad, Grammy, and Grandpa Don all enjoyed the fun with both kids!

I actually made it into a picture!

Meeting Elmo was perhaps the highlight of Mason"s trip to Sea World.

The kids played at the Sesame Street Playground for a long time!

Molly waited patiently in line for her turn.

Mason even got in on the climbing structure!

On our way out we stopped to pet the lizards.

The next day we headed to Coronado Island to do little beaching at one of Daddy's favorite places!

Grandpa Don helped dig another GIANT hole!

Mason was totally into smash ball!  For a 17 month old he did pretty well!

I actually got to read a little!

Who has sand on his face?

Definitely a beach model.

Molly headed out into the waves for a little boogie boarding.

Jumping the waves with Grandpa Don and Daddy.

Two beach babies all wrapped up.

After beaching all day we met AUnt Caitlin and Uncle Ryan for dinner at one of Daddy' favorite childhood places.

For our last day we headed back to the beach!  Molly showed UNcle Ryan how to jump over the waves.

Mason taught everyone how to dig a hole.

Daddy helped to build a giant castle.

Molly played a little football.

Mason finally crashed.  He slept for 2 hours like this!

We had such a fun time in San Diego!  Thanks for having us Grammy and Grandpa Don!
